Making It Happen

With more than three decades of construction experience around the Huntsville area, we’ve been fortunate enough to build thousands of projects, including multimillion-yard site developments, new interstates, and airports. The diversity in our work and the nonstop challenges are what keep us hungry for more.

I have had the benefit of working with Reed Contracting over the past year and a half at Redstone Gateway. They have been, and continue to be, an instrumental part of the progression and success of the development of this area. BL Harbert highly values the professional relationship built with Reed during these projects, and we look forward to continuing the partnership in the future.

Reed Contracting has the horsepower to get the job done. They are a relatively large company with a huge amount of resources, but they still base operations on integrity and customer service. When problems or challenges arise on projects, we always know we can call someone at Reed that will respond and be a team player on the solution.

In March of 2010, a sinkhole developed on Interstate 65, closing both northbound lanes just north of Birmingham, Alabama. This closure forced a 25-mile detour.

Polaris was a 105-acre mass grading site package that consisted of approximately 550,000 CY of mass grading and associated storm drain, topsoil respread, and seeding.

The new County Line Road interchange project provides access for motorists to and from I-565 to Madison Boulevard and County Line Road.

Clear and grub, mass grade, install utilities (storm, sewer, water, electric lines), fine grade, install curb and gutter, asphalt paving -- all on a site within an existing neighborhood.

The site backs up to wetland property, and had unusually soft inconsistent soils across the site. The main anchor store is a Publix super market.

96-acre site located just north of Redstone Arsenal. Site had to be completely cleared before mass earth moving could start.

The first phase of the work consisted of 100% completion of the Martin Road elevated interchange, which included the removal of two existing bridges and building two new bridges.
